Why it keeps coming back

Plenty of good teachers get stuck on this test. Being stuck isn't a verdict on your teaching.

On the test

About 35 questions in 1 hour 40 minutes, a four-function calculator, and a scaled 200 to pass.

On you

You teach all day, study at night, and the same problems keep coming back wrong.

And it isn't right

A math score shouldn't outweigh what you already show in your classroom.

The plan

Three steps. The first one takes a minute.

  1. 1

    Sign up free

Your email and a code open your class seat, Ratio & Proportion and a full practice test.

  2. 2

    Show up Monday

Coach teaches the topic live, and you answer every problem in the room with the same calculator and reference sheet you'll get on test day.

  3. 3

    Keep going between classes

Work your free skill, sit the practice test, and see exactly where you stand on every competency.

Inside the class

You're not watching a lecture. You're answering with the room.

Coach works every problem live while you answer on your own screen, then the reveal shows the why and how the room answered.

Problem 1 FTCE 2.2 · Ratio & Proportion

In a paint mixing project, the ratio of cups of white paint to cups of black paint is 5:6. If there are 72 cups of black paint, how many cups of white paint are there?

D72
Class chose 30 submissions
A 7% 2
B ✓ 70% 21
C 13% 4
D 10% 3

Correct answer: B

Coach revealed the explanation

Step 1: What do you want?
We're looking for how many cups of white paint.

Step 2: What do you have?
The ratio of white paint to black paint is 5:6, and there are 72 cups of black paint.

Step 3: What's the connection?
Set the two ratios equal, white over black, and cross multiply: w72 = 56, so 6w = 360 and w = 60.
